Fire Safety

The County of St. Paul provides fire protection services to the residents of the Summer Village of Horseshoe Bay. Call 911 to report a fire emergency.

Open Fires & Brush Burning

Residents wishing to burn brush or have any type of open fire should be aware that the requirements for OPEN FIRES have changed and fire permits are now required.

PERMIT REQUIRED!

If you want to burn brush or have an open fire, please contact the Village administration, Debbie Tyson, at (780) 298-2308 to obtain a permit.

When registering your burns, please be prepared to provide the following information:

  • Name
  • Contact Phone Number
  • Expected completion date of burn
  • Summer Village address
  • Material being burnt
Some open burning may need to be inspected prior to lighting the fire.

Fire pits and BBQ’s are not considered open fires and do not require a permit. Always check the website or call the local office to confirm if there is an active fire ban in place prior to brush burning or having an open or contained fire.

Additional Information: Fire Insurance

Village property owners should carry additional fire insurance on their property.

In the event of a fire response to your property, or a fire starting on your property, or a false alarm, any costs that may be incurred by the Fire Department for extinguishing a fire or providing fire services including costs of equipment and consumables may be charged to the person who caused the fire, the owner or occupier of the land on which the fire occurred or the owner of a vehicle in which a fire occurred.

Your Insurance company should be able to tell you what coverage you may already have or what you need.
